October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a cause which is close to our hearts. We’re honored to create supportive, gentle garments that the post-mastectomy community has embraced. It’s truly an honor to create clothing that helps women feel comfortable while they’re undergoing or recovering from breast cancer treatment.

We’re partnering with Free Range Sisters, a non-profit founded by two sisters who bravely fought breast cancer together. They provide emotional and financial support to women undergoing treatment. For the entire month of October, a portion of every yummie sale will be donated to Free Range Sisters. Women in need will also receive gift baskets that include some yummie items. Learn more about our commitment to supporting breast cancer warriors here, and read on for some quotes from our yummie community who found comfort in our clothing during the hardest times in their lives.

Tanya Bralette with Removable Pads

Our Tanya bralette gets a shout out as one of the best post-mastectomy bras for women choosing cotton breast inserts. Kristy writes, “...perfect for post-mastectomy women who prefer lightweight cotton breast inserts over…heavy silicone inserts…No stitching down the middle so the bra can peek out from a V-neck top and it looks just like a tank top that fits snug to your chest when you bend over [to] conceal the absence of cleavage. The elastic band at the waist isn’t too tight…so it does not significantly constrict the lymphatic flow.”

It’s wire-free and closure-free, crucial when managing pain and sensitive nerve endings. The Outlast® fabric is super soft and temperature regulating; it stores excess heat when you’re warm and releases it when you’re cool. The stretch lets you choose if you’d like to step in or pull it over your head.

Audrey Unlined Bralette

Kelly recommends this bra to women looking for what to wear post-mastectomy and post-reconstruction: “I have been looking for something like this for the past 3 years. I am a Breast Cancer survivor with reconstruction. The bra is nice and wide under the armpit, the fabric is nice and soft and the straps are nice and thin. I will tell my Breast Surgeon and my Oncologist about this product so they can pass it on to their patients. Thank you!!!”

Audrey features adjustable straps in the same soft, Outlast® fabric as Tanya in a gentle v-neck silhouette. It’s got a wide, smoothing back and sides and it gently support your chest without pinching.

2-Way Seamless Tank

It’s not just bras: finding comfortable post-mastectomy clothing that feels right on your body’s new shape can be an undertaking. Kathryn P. loves this tank, writing:  “I find these very comfortable. Even in very warm temps the fabric keeps you dry. I am a breast cancer patient who could not have reconstruction. Having bilateral mastectomy I found I still preferred something under my regular clothing most times. These tanks are perfect. Even though there is nothing to hold in, it gives me support, if that makes sense. These are not too restrictive, so they are comfortable for me.”

If, like Kathryn, you want the gentle support of a bralette without having to wear one, this tank may be a fit. It’s reversible, so it can be worn as a scoop or V-neck, and tucks cleanly into pants. For a thinner strap, try our Seamless Cami.

V-neck Bralette with Removable Pads

Finding post mastectomy brassieres that don’t look like sports bras can be tough. Diane W. recommends our V-neck Bralette with removable pads, writing: “For three years since having breast cancer, bilateral mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery, I have been searching for a bra that was comfortable, but dressier than a sport bra. I’ve spent a bundle on bras that looked soft but still hurt. I love my Yummie bra and can wear it all day! Thank you!!”

Step in or pull this bralette over your head; the knit-in bust support is stretchy. Wear with or without the removable pads and adjust the straps to your comfort. The sideseam-, wire-, and closure-free construction makes this comfortable for all-day wear even on sensitive skin.
